Beyoncé suing Feyoncé, a clothing company

image1 (1)

Among launching her new fashion label, covering Elle Magazine’s latest issue, and getting ready for her “Formation” World Tour–Beyoncé is in the midst of suing a Texas company by the name of Feyonce Inc.

Bey is suing the company for selling merchandise that uses the name “FEYONCÉ” and sometimes, lyrics from her music.

The “Formation” singer claims the bootlegs cause damage to her brand and the defendants have neglected her requests to stop selling their products, which include: shirts, hoodies, sweaters, and more.

The lawsuit states as follows:

“Defendants adopted Feyonce mark to call to mind Beyoncé and her famous doing. Defendants’ conduct described herein is intentional, fraudulent, malicious, willful, and wanton. Seeking to capitalize on the notoriety of ‘Single Ladies,’ with its famous lines ‘put a ring on it,’ defendants are selling merchandise bearing the ‘FEYONCÉ’ mark — a misspelling of ‘fiancé’ intended to call to mind Beyoncé and her famous song. Some of defendants’ merchandise even beat the lyrics ‘put a ring on it’ further solidifying the connection between Beyoncé and the unauthorized products.”

We’ll keep you updated on the case!

Clothing line accuses Beyonce of imitation

With the announcement of Beyonce’s new athletic wear line “Ivy Park” on Thursday, fans are excited to have the chance to rock some Bey fashion. This announcement has only heighted all of her fans to be on high-alert as they continue to anticipate the release of her new music. In typical Bey fashion, the artist has yet to release any information. Right now there is speculation that she may drop an album tomorrow April 1st.

Clothing line Lululemon, went to Twitter to accuse Bey of copying their style.

They do say imitation is the best form of flattery. Maybe Beyonce is so Crazy In Love with our brand, she made her own,” read the tweet that’s been deleted. Fans fired back and the company ended up apologizing.

Well either way, there’s a good chance she might be dropping that album because as most know, she loves the number four. April, month four. Maybe fans will be blessed with an new album or maybe Beyonce will play an April fools joke on us and make the world wait longer. Fingers are definitely crossed!

To celebrate Women’s History Month, here’s a list of empowering women (in no particular order) that are currently making waves and practicing confidence through their music.
1. Rihanna
With the release of her ‘ANTI’ album, Rihanna has been topping the charts. Why do we love RiRi? She keeps it real, raw and nothing holds her back. Her lyrics let women know that we can be ourselves, a little risky and still be sexy!

I’ve had my eyes open to LEAF’s ongoing growth and talent, and I must say, as a fan I am super proud. She’s coming into her own self and showing us that greatness takes time, but it isn’t impossible.
10. Seinabo Sey

Beyonce to release TWO ALBUMS in 2016?

large-4

Rumors are circulating that Beyonce may be releasing two albums this year. Beyonce’s new hit single “Formation” which included the release of a WORLD TOUR may be the build up to an album release in April.

According to the Fader, her final album with Sony Records is set to drop very soon as is her collaborative album with hubby Jay-Z. Billboard even suggested that Mike Will Made-it would be a producer featured on the album, who was the producer of her first single “Formation“. Other possible collaborators include Future and Bone-Thugs N-harmony. Could this be true? We are so ready for the new music!

Beyonce’s Formation tour boycott: Police refusing to work Bey’s shows

Screen Shot 2016-02-21 at 2.49.12 PM
Everyone loves Beyoncé, right? Well Beyoncé has been receiving lots of grief for her new song “Formation“. Not only is it a huge anthem but it’s also the cause of some major controversy.  The song is meant to be inspirational and it even inspired Beyonce’s upcoming tour. Well, not everyone can agree. The Miami Order of Fraternal Police released a statement stating that they would allow their members to boycott Beyonce’s upcoming formation tour.
The President of Miami Police released this statement:

“I was one of the tens of thousands of law enforcement officers that didn’t watch the Super Bowl halftime show out of respect for our profession. On another day while flipping through the television channels, I did mistakenly watch her ‘Formation’ video that shows scenes of a young black boy dancing in front of police in riot gear, who signal their surrender by putting their hands up, referencing the ‘Hands up, don’t shoot’ anthem of the Black Lives Matter movement inspired by the 2014 death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.”

“I challenge Beyoncé to review the eighty-six page report written by the United States Department of Justice on the death investigation of Michael Brown[…] Those hands up, don’t shoot accounts are inaccurate because they are inconsistent with the physical and forensic evidence. Countless others contradicted or recanted their accounts of what transpired. Hands up, don’t shoot was built on a lie.”

“While Beyoncé physically saluted the 50th anniversary of the Black Panthers movement at the Super Bowl, I salute NYPD Officer Richard Rainey, who succumbed to his injuries on February 16, 2016 from being shot by two Black Panthers who he had pulled over in a traffic stop. I also salute the dozens of law enforcement officers that have been assassinated by members of the Black Panthers. We ask all law enforcement labor organizations to join our boycott across the country and to boycott all of her concerts.”

According to reports, officers across the country feel offended after Bey used images that represented The Black Panther Party in her trending Super Bowl halftime performance. The Black Panthers were known for their focus on anti-police brutality and racism.

The boycott has caused officers to deny volunteering/working at Bey’s shows. There has been no response from Bey’s people but as far as we know tickets to her shows are still available for purchase.

TMZ reported that the NYPD will be on her side if she publicly explains that her performance was not an attack on cops. Will she do it?

Powerful messages and reactions to Beyonce’s “Formation”

Beyonce’s currently trending surprise video to “Formation” gave society some very powerful messages. Dropped a day before Bey’s anticipated Super Bowl performance and during Black History Month, Queen B speaks volumes of racism and police brutality in this video.

The video takes place in what seems to be the ruins of Hurricane Katrina. The hook of the song touches on constant media attack on her daughter, husband and her proud Southern background.

My daddy Alabama, Momma Louisiana / You mix that negro with that Creole make a Texas bamma / I like my baby hair, with baby hair and afros / I like my negro nose with Jackson Five nostrils.”

The video includes artwork of Martin Luther King Jr., the message “Stop shooting us,” and a little black boy dancing in front of a police squad who raise their hands on his cue. Beyonce, dressed in all black, gives not one, but two middle fingers in the air. The question is, to who?

tumblr_o25apodGMy1u4eeu4o2_540

Blue Ivy also makes an appearance in the video looking like the star that she is!

The most powerful scene in the video, however, would have to be the end, when Beyonce sinks a cop car that reads “New Orleans Police” on the window.

Formation” was co-written by Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee while the video was directed by Beyonce herself.

Will Beyonce be performing this song at tomorrow’s Super Bowl? We hope so!
