Austin’s 30th annual South By Southwest Music Festival kicked off on Tuesday (March 15) and although the massive celebration is still continuing, there’s so much that already went down.
It’s first day featured a slew of outstanding performances to properly welcome the music-listening event.
Below are some of our favorite performances and highlights of SXSW 2016 thus far, take a look.
Keynote Speaker, Michelle Obama
It all started when the first lady Michelle Obama opened the SXSW Music 2016 festival. Mrs. Obama discussed her Let Girls Learn campaign, which aims to break barriers for the 62 million girls around the world who are not in school today, more than half of whom are adolescent.
Jhene Aiko
The newly married woman, Jhene Aiko took the stage and graced fans with her track “You and Them.”
Miguel has been making great music for quite some time now. We also know that he and Rihanna seem to be greats pals. Recently he was spotted at the Spotify House during SXSW covering Rihanna’s hit song “Kiss it better” and it is adorable! Watch him as he occasionally looks at his phone to check the lyrics. We love you Miguel!

Kehlani brought the house down during her YouTube stage performance.
Miguel hasn’t forgotten where he came from. The WILDHEART crooner recently visited his former middle school, where he surprised students with a performance during their annual talent show.
Performing his smash single, “Adorn,” the singer had the students of Dana Middle School going wild as he came out to serenade the exciting crowd.
Miguel took to social media to write of the experience, as he wrote:
“Visited my old middle school for this year’s talent show tonight. Crazy, I always loved the smell of the auditorium and it was exactly how I remember it. Huge shout to all the students, parents, family friends and staff. Loved every moment #danamiddleschool #wildheart.”

Get ready because the music festival season is fast approaching.
With a sizzling line up for Coachella 2016, the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago isn’t staying too far behind.

There’s no doubting that Miguel has been working hard in the studio, but he’s always making sure to show love to those who support him.
The “Sure Thing” crooner stopped by Los Angeles radio station Power 106 to talk to The Cruz Show, where he dished upon his newly engagement, writing songs, and much more.
One of the first things the morning show targeted Miguel with was about his engagement with longtime girlfriend Nazanin Mandi and their plans of having babies.
Later on, the WILDHEART vocalist also mentioned how he’s had several major writing session with multiple artists from Tinashe, Big Sean, and even wrote Tory Lanez latest song “L.A. Confidential.”

Miguel just hosted the “Wildheart Hotel” where there were performances in different rooms and people getting on the mic singing. A big highlight of the night exciting was when Miguel and Rihanna teamed up for a duet, doing a rendition of The Temptations’ “My Girl.”
