Actor Will Smith shares his disappointment in the lack of diversity in this year’s Oscar nominations. This is now the second year in a row where zero nonwhite actors were nominated for the category of Academy’s acting awards.
In an interview with ABC, Smith said he thinks the nominees don’t reflect the true image of America’s diversity.
Smith appeared in the movie Concussion (2015) where he portrayed a man who discovered a disease caused by head trauma seen in professional NFL football players, many fans felt he deserved an Oscar nomination for this role.
“The industry reflects America, it reflects a series of challenges we’re having in our country at the moment. That’s not the Hollywood I want to leave behind.”
An Oscars Boycott is now on the roll. Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett has been a main source behind this boycott after sharing this video on MLK’s birthday a few days ago.
Smith confirmed that he nor his wife will be attending the Oscars this year taking place on February 28, 2016.
